Congress leader claims letter involving Patidar woman in Amreli was real, seeks FSL report
The controversy surrounding the letter scam in Amreli involving a woman from a Patidar community refuses to die down. Payal Goti, a Patidar woman was allegedly paraded around the city by the police after she is said to have typed a letter against a BJP leader.
The Congress now claims that the letter, initially declared fake, is real .
Congress leader Jenny Thummar has stated that the letter, previously deemed fake, is authentic . Thummar has called for the letter to be released to the public.
Thummar has also questioned the police action, pointing out that since the FSL report has not yet been released, it is unclear how the police arrested four individuals, including Goti. She also questioned why the police paraded her around the city and even allegedly assaulted her in the lockup before a proper investigation was completed.
Thummar raised several concerns
– Why didn’t the police wait for the FSL report before determining the authenticity of the letter?
– Why was Goti assaulted in the lockup, and what information were the police trying to obtain from her?
When contacted, the SP of Amreli stated that he has not received the FSL report yet and is unaware of the case details. The case has been transferred to IPS Nirlipt Rai and the SIT team, which was formed to investigate the allegations of assault on Goti in the lockup. In this regard, three police officials have been suspended.
However, despite the assault on Goti in the lockup, no proper action has been taken against the officers involved.
Congress has now demanded that the FSL report and the letter be released to the public, and that all individuals involved in the case be arrested.
