Congress, farmers oppose proposed ethanol plant in Anand’s Sarsa village

Even before construction has begun, local farmers, and Congress leaders are opposing a proposed ethanol plant in Sarsa village of Gujarat’s Anand district with concern over its potential impact on agriculture, water resources, and the environment.
The protest comes after survey numbers for the proposed project were announced, triggering resistance from residents and political leaders even before the plant has been established.
State Congress president and Anklav MLA Amit Chavda has written to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel opposing the project.
The proposed ethanol plant is planned at City Survey No. NA1383/1 and Revenue Survey/Block Nos. 1365, 1369, and 1370/1 in Sarsa village.
Congress leaders and local farmers have alleged that the project could adversely affect air quality, water resources, and fertile agricultural land in the area.
They have also expressed concerns about its potential impact on the health and livelihoods of local residents and cattle breeders.
Farmers in the village have warned of strong agitation if the project goes ahead, while Congress leaders have sought immediate withdrawal of the proposal.
