As Lok Sabha elections close in, the Opposition have begun to make their moves. In Gujarat and Delhi, AAP and Congress are reportedly pondering over shaking hands against the common rival.
To sustain the firm grip, if not to overpower the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the INDIA bloc are about to opt for seat-sharing, according to sources.
Amid that, a controversy has erupted over Bharuch’s seat.
Bharuch seat-sharing controversy
Bharuch’s late Congress veteran leader Ahmad Patel’s son, Faizal Patel, updated a private news channel regarding seat sharing. Patel claimed that AAP can never win the Bharuch seat if he is the candidate from Congress.
He reportedly said that his sister, Mumtaz Patel, also wants him to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Bharuch.
Being emotional, Mumtaz said that the workers of the Congress party, including her, will have to think about the decision of seat-sharing, according to reports.
She stated that she is loyal to the ideology of Congress and would not shift to any other party. She also added that she would accept the decision of the high command of the party.
On the other hand, AAP has claimed that its candidates will contest Bharuch and Bhavanagar seats as part of the INDIA alliance. According to the new formula by the opposition, Congress will offer two seats out of 26 to the AAP.
Adding fuel to the flame of politics, Gujarat AAP leaders including Chaitar Vasava, Manoj Sorathiya, and Isudan Gadhvi have alleged that as the AAP and Congress are planning the seat-sharing, the ruling party in Gujarat is fearing its win over all 26 seats.
They further said that the BJP is now resorting to misusing the CBI raids and threatening Arvind Kejriwal with jail.
