Complaints of potholes in Ahmedabad prompt municipal commissioner to site inspection

Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani was compelled to step out of his office to inspect pothole repairs and road resurfacing work across the city after a month of rain exposed poor maintenance of roads.
The inspection related to patchwork on the roads damaged due to rain from Viratnagar to Soni ni Chali and Nikol village. So far, AMC has received 7,326 complaints of potholes. Out of these, 6,594 potholes have been covered up.
The municipal commissioner took a round of Viratnagar ward in East Ahmedabad on Tuesday morning. The ongoing work of road resurfacing was inspected near the Viratnagar bus stand.
Regarding the roads damaged due to rain, the municipal commissioner said that all city roads are inspected every morning, and repairs done immediately wherever there are potholes.
“Road repair work is done in the morning and at night. So that there is no hindrance to citizens during the day. The corporation receives online complaints from citizens through a comprehensive redressal system,” Pani said.
In addition, through artificial intelligence, any potholes detected in the cameras are monitored immediately and repaired. The corporation has so far used 14,500 cold mix bags to cover the potholes and resurface the roads. In addition, about 7,500 tonnes of hot mix materials were used for the patchwork.
