Winters peeping from the weekend

According to a private weather forecasting organisation, the minimum temperature in Ahmedabad is likely to drop below 18°C on Nov 11.

By the end of November, the minimum temperature may go as low as 15°C. As per a pattern seen over the past two years, Ahmedabad has witnessed temperatures below 15°C in the month of November.

Ahmedabad’s temperature

On Nov 11, 2012, Ahmedabad recorded an average minimum temperature of 11.3°C.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that there is no chance of rain in the state for the next five days and that the weather is likely to remain dry- and the temperatures may remain unchanged. Currently, the temperatures are dipping to 20°C at night and 36°C during the day.

Dr Manorama Mohanty, director of IMD in Ahmedabad, said, “There is likely to be less cold inNovember, but it may dip in December. At present, there is no system active in the atmosphere, so the weather is likely to be cold due to north-eastern winds.”

Said Ambalal Patel, known for his weather predictions,“November and the beginning of December are likely to be less cold. This year, winter is delayed due to El Niño currents.” He added, “Winter is likely to commence in Gujarat after Dec 22, when the northern hilly regions will receive heavy snowfall. Jan 2024 is likely to be colder.”

After Feb 5, 2024, Gujarat may witness intense cold due to heavy snowfall in the northern regions of India. The minimum temperature is likely to be 8°C in parts of North Gujarat.
