Cold conditions persist in Gujarat, slight relief likely after three days

Cold conditions continue to prevail across Gujarat, with the minimum temperature dipping below 15°C in 11 cities. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a marginal rise of around 3°C in temperatures is expected after the next three days, which may bring partial relief from the cold. At present, easterly winds are prevailing over the state.
Dahod recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 10.9°C on Sunday night. Several other cities, including Amreli, Naliya, Vadodara and Rajkot, also witnessed minimum temperatures falling below 13°C. In Ahmedabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 14.9°C, which is 1.7 degrees higher than the normal average.
The weather department has attributed the likely rise in minimum temperatures to the influence of a western disturbance, which may lead to an increase of 2 to 3°C. As a result, a slight reduction in cold intensity is expected in the coming days.
Officials further stated that the weather in Gujarat will remain dry till December 20, with no chances of unseasonal rainfall. Weather experts have also indicated that the possibility of a further drop in minimum temperatures till the 20th is minimal.
Looking at the broader national weather pattern, light rainfall is likely in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh due to western disturbances and jet stream activity. Snowfall is also expected in the hilly regions by the end of the week.
