A 15-year-old girl undergoing treatment for depression died after allegedly jumping from the terrace of a 10-storey residential building on the night of July 9 in Makarba.

The class 10 student lived with her parents at Orchid Whitefield, opposite AMC garden in Makarba.

The Makarba police said that she was prescribed medicines for depression by a psychiatrist practising near Parimal Garden in Ahmedabad. 

As per an official at Makarba Police Chowki, “The minor lived in the I Block of the society and went to the terrace around 11.30 pm. She died by  suicide by jumping from the terrace and died on the spot.”

The security guard at the housing society said, “I was on night duty yesterday (July 9) and called the cops at 11.55 pm when I got to know about the incident.”

The officials said that the investigation is underway and they will check CCTV footage at the residential colony soon. The forensic science lab (FSL) report is also awaited.
