In an incident that has sent shockwaves among the student community, a Class 10 student at Som Lalit School in Navrangpura allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from the second floor of the school building on Thursday.

The girl sustained injuries and was immediately rushed to Nidhi Hospital for medical treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable, and she is currently under medical observation.

Following the incident, the student’s family members and police reached the school. Police officials said the exact reason behind the suicide attempt will become clearer once the girl regains full consciousness and is in a position to record her statement.

Police have launched a preliminary investigation into the matter and are speaking to classmates, teachers, and school staff. They are also reviewing CCTV footage from the school premises to ascertain the sequence of events leading up to the incident.

School administrator Pragnesh Shastri confirmed that the student did, in fact, attempt to end her life by jumping from the upper floor. “It was clearly a suicide attempt. Her parents have been informed, and we are cooperating fully with the police. We will provide the CCTV footage and all relevant information to the authorities,” Shastri said.

Confirming the incident, Navrangpura Police Inspector A A Desai said, “The girl is still undergoing treatment at the hospital and remains unconscious. Further details will be available once she regains consciousness.”

The case has reignited concerns over student mental health and the need for better emotional support systems within educational institutions.
