Clash at blast site: MLA Chaitar Vasava, victim’s kin exchange slaps in Gujarat’s Jhagadia

A major controversy erupted in Jhagadia GIDC in Bharuch district of Gujarat after a heated clash between AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava and the family of a blast victim turned violent, with both sides allegedly exchanging slaps during a tense confrontation.

The incident occurred when the MLA visited the Metropolitan Exichem plant following the April 23 explosion that left over 10 workers injured and claimed the life of a worker named Rakesh Vasava. While the fire and blast had already triggered anger among locals, tensions peaked during the MLA’s visit.

According to reports, family members of the deceased strongly opposed Vasava’s presence, leading to a verbal altercation. The situation escalated when the relative of the deceased and MLA exchanged slaps in full public view.

Police personnel present at the scene intervened as the confrontation spiralled, while onlookers captured the incident on video, which has since gone viral on social media.

The clash has shifted focus from the industrial accident to the law-and-order situation, even as investigations into the cause of the blast and the company’s safety standards continue.
