Twice in four months, the Crime Investigation Department (CID crime), Gujarat, raided consultancies across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Vadodara, with a total of 18 teams on Mar 13 involved in visa scams based on passports and fake documents.

Gujarat, the epicentre of the craze to settle abroad, often lands its citizens in illegal ways to achieve their overseas dreams.

The preliminary investigation regarding the document search of around 3,571 students revealed the scam of stealing the original documents and sending aspirants to Australia on fake documents.

Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar visa consultancies

Documents of some students were found at Neptune Consultancy, located in Ambawadi, Ahmedabad.

Gandhinagar CID crime cell police inspector SC Tarde has registered a complaint against Vishal Patel, owner of Kudasan-based Umiya Overseas visa consultancy.

Patel was allegedly involved in preparing fake documents for the students aspiring to fly to Australia.

Documents including 10–12 marksheets, a fake civil engineering degree from Udaipur University, a forged loan letter from SBI, a forged document of house valuation, and a fake notary document were seized at Patel's consultancy.

A preliminary investigation by CID (crime) found duplicate documents belonging to two persons named Mihir Rami and Satish Chaudhary, created by Patel.

Despite providing original documents, Patel created forged documents for them. Rami and Chaudhary gave all their original documents to Vishal, which they did not use and forged. Families of both aspirants reportedly paid ₹3 lakh each to visa consultant Patel.

Currently, CID (crime) has registered a case against Vishal Patel, taking immediate action.
