A routine highway inspection by Chotila Deputy Collector H T Makwana took a shocking turn when officials intercepted a suspicious vehicle trailing the official’s car. Upon searching the suspect driver’s mobile phone, authorities discovered an alleged audio recording discussing payoffs linked to a number saved under the name of Limdi DySP Vishal Rabari.

Officials stopped the  suspicious vehicle tailing the Deputy Collector’s car and detained two individuals. Upon checking their mobile phones, authorities found WhatsApp groups which were used for sharing information about inspections and officer locations with land mafias.

Additionally, the mobile contained an audio recording of monetary dealings linked to a number saved under the name of Limdi DySP. The recording reportedly discussed payoffs to allow illegal dumper trucks to pass through the highway.

After the Deputy Collector made the audio public, Limdi DySP Vishal Rabari refuted all allegations. He stated that neither he nor any other police officer was involved in the recording. Rabari claimed that mafia members or their associates might have falsely saved numbers under police officials’ names to create an impression of influence.

Furthermore, he criticised the Deputy Collector for circulating the audio without proper investigation and announced that he had submitted a written request to the district DIG (Director General of Police) for an official probe into the matter.
