Child at Jamnagar hospital tests positive for Chandipura virus after his death

A child patient from Jamkhambhaliya of Devbhumi Dwarka district in Gujarat tested positive for the Chandipura (CHPV) today, days after he succumbed during treatment at the Guru Gobind Singh Government Hospital (GG Hospital) in Jamnagar.

The child was under treatment for symptoms associated with the virus, and his samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for testing. After the results turned out to be positive, the authorities have initiated steps to check for symptoms in people close to the child.

On the other hand, reports of three other patients from Jamnagar at the hospital, and one from Jamnagar in a Rajkot hospital tested negative for the virus.
