Chhotaudepur MP sparks controversy after displaying gun during BJP victory procession

Chhotaudepur BJP MP Jashu Rathwa has sparked a fresh controversy after he was seen openly carrying a gun and wearing a garland of cartridges during a victory procession held after the taluka panchayat president and vice-president elections. His son was also allegedly seen carrying a firearm during the celebrations.

The elections in Chhotaudepur taluka panchayat had already turned controversial after the Aam Aadmi Party alleged that three of its members were abducted by masked men in the presence of police personnel.

Amid the political row, BJP secured victory in the local body polls and organised a massive celebration attended by thousands of party workers and leaders, including district BJP president Umesh Rathwa.

Visuals from the procession showing the MP and his son displaying firearms in public have now triggered a political storm, especially amid concerns over law and order in the area.

Political discussions have intensified over allegations that BJP managed to gain control of the taluka panchayat despite both BJP and AAP winning an equal number of seats. Opposition voices have also alleged that the public display of weapons during the celebrations was intended to create fear and assert political dominance in the region.
