Check traffic restrictions for awards night at TransStadia Stadium in Kankaria on Saturday

The Ahmedabad traffic police have announced a series of traffic restrictions and diversions around the ‘EKA Arena, TransStadia Stadium’ in Kankaria ahead of an awards function scheduled to take place on October 11.

The notification issued by Sharad Singhal, IPS, in-charge Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad City, aims to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety during the high-profile event.

The restrictions will remain in force from 3 pm to midnight on October 11, and again from midnight to 2 am on October 12, across key routes leading to the venue.

Roads closed to vehicular traffic

According to the order, the following roads will be completely closed to traffic during the event hours:

-Raipur Crossroads to Parsi Agiari – Kankaria Gate No. 3

-Vanijya Bhavan Crossroads to Parsi Agiari Tri Road

-Parsi Agiari Three Road to Vanijya Bhavan Four Road

-Anuvrat Circle to Kankaria Gate No. 3 (Football Ground route)

-Football Ground to Kankaria Gate No. 3–Anuvrat Circle route

All roads surrounding the stadium and approach routes have also been declared no-parking zones during the event.

Alternative routes announced

To facilitate smoother movement, the police have suggested the following diversion routes:

From Raipur Crossroads, motorists can take Kagdapith–Vanijya Bhavan–Anuvrat Circle, and proceed towards Maninagar or Hatkeshwar CTM.

From Vanijya Bhavan, vehicles can move via New Cloth Market–Raipur to reach their destinations.

Traffic from Parsi Agiari can proceed via Jogni Mata Temple–Football Ground–Apsara Cinema (Pushpa Kunj)–Tulsi Complex–Giraffe Circle.

 From Anuvrat Circle, motorists may take the Anupam Bridge–Siddhivinayak Circle–Giraffe Circle–Tulsi Complex route.

One-way route declared

An approximately 800-metre stretch between Lucknow Jalebi Three Roads and Kankaria Gate No. 3–Anuvrat Circle has been declared one-way for the duration of the event. This regulation too will be effective between 3 pm and midnight on October 11, and from midnight to 2 am on October 12.

Exceptions and penalties

The restrictions will not apply to:

 Official vehicles associated with the awards event, government vehicles on duty, fire brigade and ambulance services, emergency vehicles.

Police have warned that anyone found violating the order will face action under Section the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section of the Gujarat Police Act.

Police deployment and coordination

The order authorises all officers from Joint/Additional Police Commissioners to Constables under the Ahmedabad Police Commissionerate to take enforcement action. Traffic police, supported by additional units, will be deployed across major junctions to manage diversions and ensure smooth flow around the stadium.

The Ahmedabad Police have also urged residents to plan their commutes accordingly and to avoid travelling near the Kankaria–Maninagar area during event hours unless necessary.
