Ahmedabad’s bustling Kalupur Railway Station witnessed chaos early this morning after a confrontation between rickshaw drivers and personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) escalated into a major altercation.

The dispute reportedly began over the issue of picking up passengers near the station premises and soon turned into a heated clash, forcing authorities to resort to a lathi-charge to bring the situation under control.

The incident was captured on camera, and visuals are now circulating widely on social media.

According to details, the early morning hours at Kalupur Railway Station see heavy passenger movement. As per claims, several rickshaw drivers were stationed near the premises to pick up passengers.

When RPF personnel attempted to stop them from doing so, tensions flared. Rickshaw drivers allegedly objected to the restrictions, leading to an argument that quickly escalated into aggressive verbal exchanges between the two sides.

Rickshaw drivers have alleged that an RPF jawan assaulted one of their drivers, which further enraged other drivers present at the spot. Following this, a commotion broke out inside the station area, and the situation rapidly turned volatile.

To disperse the gathering crowd and prevent further escalation, police personnel carried out a lathi-charge on the rickshaw drivers. Eventually, the situation was brought under control.

Visuals of the incident have since gone viral, sparking a debate online. Questions are being raised about railway security arrangements as well as the conduct of rickshaw drivers. While some sections of the public have come out in support of the rickshaw drivers, arguing that they should be given some leeway to earn their livelihood at public places, others have backed the RPF, stating that strict action was justified due to rule violations and unruly behavior by the drivers.
