Chandkheda sisters’ deaths: doctors’s panel receive forensic report, cause of death to be determined

Police have intensified their investigation into the suspicious death of two minor girls in the Chandkheda area of Ahmedabad after allegedly consuming dosa, with forensic and blood sample reports now received, officials said on Saturday.
According to officials at the Chandkheda Police Station, the forensic science laboratory (FSL) report of the viscera samples collected during the post-mortem examination has been forwarded to the panel of doctors for analysis.
“The investigation is ongoing. The FSL report has been received and sent to the panel doctors who conducted the post-mortem. Further action will be taken after the final cause of death is determined,” a police inspector said.
He added that it would be premature to conclude whether poisoning or any other factor was involved until the doctors issue a written opinion. The final medical findings are expected by Monday or Tuesday, he said.
Meanwhile, the parents of the deceased girls were questioned by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch. During the interrogation, which lasted around two hours, investigators noted variations in their statements regarding what the children had consumed prior to the incident, including references to khichdi and chocolate in addition to dosa.
Police said they also recovered a diary during the investigation, which contained references to having a son. When questioned, the mother stated that she already had a daughter and that the family wished to have a son, adding that the matter was not linked to any superstition or suspicious practice at this stage.
