A seven-year-old boy in Ahmedabad died after falling into an open water tank of an apartment while playing in the Seventh Bliss apartment building in Jagatpur, Chandkheda.
Children were playing in the apartment compound around 7.30 pm on Monday, when a child named Darsh Ravibhai Patel, fell into the underground tank with its lid allegedly open.
After the other children informed the residents about the incident, Darsh was taken out and shifted to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
The incident sparked outrage among residents. They alleged that the builder in charge of maintenance, Vishnu Thakkar, was earlier informed about the broken lid, but he failed to replace it in a timely manner.
Chandkheda police said that an investigation will be conducted to determine whether there was any negligence on part of the builder. For now, a case of accidental death has been filed.
Daksh was a senior KG student at Apollo School in Gota, and his father, Ravi, works as a team leader in an elevator firm.
According to PI Nikunj Solanki, the family is in Patan right now for the final rites of the deceased, and further investigation will be carried out once they return.
