Chaitar Vasava arrest: Rajpipla court denies bail, next appeal in sessions court
In the Dediyapada case that has created significant political tension, MLA Chaitar Vasava, who was arrested earlier on Sunday, was presented before the Rajpipla court, where his request for bail was denied.
Following his arrest, the police had requested a 5-day remand, and Vasava had requested for bail, both were denied subsequently.
Currently, Vasava is in judicial custody and is expected to submit the judicial custody report on Monday. His legal team will now move the sessions court for bail.
Clash between police and AAP workers outside court
A political drama unfolded outside the court before Vasava was presented. A confrontation broke out between the police and AAP workers when the police stopped AAP leader Gopal Italia, party workers, and media personnel from entering the court premises, leading to a heated situation.
AAP workers and Gopal Italia expressed anger against the police, questioning, “Does the police follow the law or the BJP? The court belongs to the people, not to the BJP.”
Italia added, “Anyone can enter the court; it is an open court.” The police had closed the court gate, restricting entry to both the public and the media, which escalated tensions at the location.
A striking moment occurred when Gopal Italia, arriving in a private car, was stopped by the police from entering the court. Italia and his supporters questioned the police, saying,
“How can you stop us from entering an open court? What kind of democracy is this?”
He further told the police: “Let people enter the court; no one is running away.”
