Cement road projects worth ₹75 crore halted in West Ahmedabad

The Road Committee has put a brake on the enthusiasm of Amdavad Municipal Corporation officials, who presented the committee with a proposal to build cement roads in West Ahmedabad.
The Road Committee had not taken any decision on the proposal seeking approval to build cement roads at a cost of ₹75.60 crore in wards including Paldi, Navrangpura, Vasna, Sabarmati and Chandkheda in West Ahmedabad.
Before allowing contractor Shreeji Infraspace to build cement roads at a 26% higher price, the committee has sought an account from the officials on how many cement roads were built in which zones of the city, and how much money was spent on them.
The proposal also included a condition that the contractor would have to pay GST separately. After the controversy that had surfaced regarding cement roads for some time, the Road Committee, taking a strict stance to avoid further controversy, clearly told the officers that they should submit complete details of all the cement roads built and to be built in the city so far, and then it would consider taking a decision.
