Car plunges into Bhadar river in Rajkot, kills family of four

A tragic accident unfolded in the Rajkot district as a car carrying a family of four plunged into the Bhadar river after a tyre burst on a bridge near Dhoraji on the Porbandar-Rajkot national highway.
All four occupants of the car drowned and died in this accident.
According to the information received, Dinesh Thummar, 46, a resident of Dhoraji, was attending a religious event of Soma Yagya in Mandasan village with his family, including his wife, daughter, and sister-in-law.
While returning from there on Apr 10 at 9 a.m., the tyre of the car burst near the Bhadar river bridge. The car driver, Dinesh, lost control, and it overturned and fell into the river.
Dinesh, his wife Lilavati Thummar, 42, their daughter Hardika Thummar, 22, and his sister-in-law Sangeeta Koyani, 55, drowned and died on the spot.
Dhoraji taluka police reached the spot after being prompted by this accident.
The bodies of all four victims were pulled out and taken to the Dhoraji government hospital.
The deceased Dinesh was an activist for the Tulsi Charitable Trust of Kumbharwada. His 22-year-old daughter, Hardika, was engaged just one and a half months ago.
The entire family was wiped out in the accident, which has cast a pall of gloom over the local community.
Staff of police sub-inspector (PSI) Vikramsinh Jethva of Dhoraji taluka police have initiated an investigation into this incident.
