C Certification test for NCC postponed over paper leak speculations
The National Cadet Corps (NCC), the largest uniformed youth organisation with the motto of ‘unity and discipline’, has reportedly landed in the pool of paperleaks of government examinations in India.
The NCC Cadets across India were informed on Feb 19 at 10 a.m. that the paper had been postponed exactly on the day of the examination.
“Our commanding officer (CO) just informed us about the leak for the paper today (Feb 19), and informed us that the exam has been postponed to Feb 25,” said a source at Rajkot Group Headquarters.
Around 448 cadets from Amreli and Bhavnagar, and many more across Gujarat and India, were affected by the alleged paper leak.
However, there has been no official confirmation about the paper leak from the authorities.
The NCC examination is centralised and conducted simultaneously with the same papers across India. The distribution of NCC paper across India has been operated by the directorate general of NCC in New Delhi.
An NCC cadet took to his social media, “Why is @HQ_DG_NCC silent on today’s NCC “C” certificate question paper leak and postponement of exams in Karnataka, Kerala,Kerala and other states. Cadets have college exams, and many of them also have SSC and police exams . How will you conduct the exam in this hectic schedule?”
He further said that they were asked to go home on Feb 19 without any official statement.
Notably, the C certificate paper of NCC is a crucial examination as it is conducted in the final year of the three-year NCC training. A gateway to the Indian Army and other Indian armed forces, NCC’s C certificate grades matter a lot to the cadets, and they were disappointed, if not worried, after the news of the examination postponement.
The menace of paper leaks have plagued the system in India. Recently, with the rising misconduct and cheating in government examinations, the Parliament cleared the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, during the Lok Sabha session.
The bill proposed a punishment of a minimum of three to five years of imprisonment. According to the bill, those involved in organised crimes of cheating will face five to 10 years of imprisonment and a minimum fine of ₹1 cr.
