A 32-year-old businessman from Shela was allegedly assaulted by a group of unidentified men following a dispute over parking in a residential society in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon. The complainant, Shashank Upendrabhai Luhar, suffered injuries to his head, eye, and body, and has filed a police complaint at the Sarkhej police station.

According to police, the incident took place around 1.25 pm at Sorrel Township in Shela. Luhar, who runs a cement product manufacturing unit in Odhav, alleged that the altercation began when his father, Upendrabhai Luhar, was denied entry into their society by a security guard, Anuj Kanker, for not displaying a parking sticker. This led to a heated argument, during which Irfan, introduced as the head of the society's security, intervened and allegedly escalated the matter.

Luhar stated in his complaint said that Irfan threatened him, warning that he would face dire consequences.

Later, when he went down to the main gate, he saw four to five men seated in the society compound, while another group was waiting on bikes outside. As soon as they saw him, they began abusing, and attacked him. One of them even hit him on the head with a plastic chair.

Following the assault, the group fled the scene, leaving Luhar injured. He dialled the police control room, after which a patrol team arrived and provided him with a treatment slip. Luhar was treated at Civil Hospital in Sola and later approached Sarkhej police station to file a formal complaint.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for assault, criminal intimidation, and unlawful assembly. "We are investigating the allegations and attempting to identify the other accused involved based on the complainant's statement and CCTV footage," a police officer said.

Luhar has also named the society's head of security, Irfan, as a key accused in the case.
