Burglars make off with valuables worth ₹5 lakh, Rolex watch from Gota house

A daring house break-in occurred in the early hours of Monday at a residence in Gota village, Ahmedabad, where unidentified burglars made off with cash and valuables worth ₹4.89 lakh along with a Rolex wristwatch.
The incident took place on late on June 30 at the Patel Vas locality in Gota. As per the FIR lodged at the Sola High Court police station, the intruders broke three iron bars of a window using a sharp weapon and entered the home while the family was asleep.
The complainant, Bhikhabhai Talsibhai Patel(56), a farmer by occupation, stated that the theft came to light when his wife, Nitaben, woke him up at around 3 am, alerting him to noises coming from the adjacent room. Upon investigation, they found the room locked from inside, raising suspicion.
Bhikhabhai then called his son, Sachin, who was sleeping upstairs, and alerted a neighbour, Brijeshbhai. Together, they inspected the back of the house and discovered that the iron grill on the window had been cut open. Peering through the broken window with their mobile phone flashlights, they noticed the cupboards inside the room were open, with belongings scattered across the floor.
The police were informed via the control room, and upon arrival, the family opened the room using a key. A closer inspection revealed that both cupboards had been broken into and several items had been stolen, including:
A gold necklace weighing 1.5 tolas (approx. ₹31,250)
A five-tola gold set (approx. ₹1,25,000)
An eight-tola gold set (approx. ₹62,500)
Two silver chains (100g, approx. ₹4,000)
Two silver bracelets (100g, approx. ₹4,000)
₹2.50 lakh in cash
One half-tola gold bar (approx. ₹12,500)
A Rolex wristwatch (value undisclosed)
The cumulative value of the stolen items is estimated at ₹4.89 lakh, excluding the luxury watch.
Police have registered a case of burglary and initiated an investigation. The police will probe whether someone known to the family may have been involved. No arrests have been made. Sola High Court police station is currently examining CCTV footage from the area and conducting inquiries with neighbours to gather leads.
