Builder fires in Ahmedabad

A builder in Ahmedabad has been booked for allegedly firing at a real estate dealer on Apr 19 over a ₹13 lakh financial dispute near a cafe on the city’s Mumatpura-Bopal Road.

The property dealer, Hardattsinh Jadav, had booked two flats in an apartment scheme of a builder named Nilesh Khambhayta in the Bapunagar area.

However, Nilesh had to call off the scheme for some reason, and Hardattsinh demanded his money back. This led to a financial dispute between the two, which escalated to the firing incident.

The Firing incident

Hardattsinh, a resident of the city’s Satellite area, runs a business of real estate dealerships.

He came into contact with Nilesh through an acquaintance and signed a deal for two flats in the scheme for ₹30 lakh.

After the apartment project was called off, Nilesh returned ₹17 lakh to Hardatsinh. But he started making excuses to return the remaining ₹13 lakh.

In the meantime, on the morning of Apr 18, Nilesh called Hardatsinh and asked him to meet him at Seven 11 Cafe on Mumatpura-Bopal Road to discuss this issue.

Hardatsinh was seated in his car as the duo was zeroing on a food stall opposite the Karnavati Club to eat.

Nilesh took out a country-made gun from the trunk of his scooter and fired it at Hardattsinh. The bullet entered the side of his chest through the arm.

However, before Nilesh could fire another round, Hardattsinh sped away in the car and called his brother once out of danger.

Later, he was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

Based on the incident, the Sarkhej police registered a case of an attempt to murder and have arrested the builder, Nilesh Khambhayata.
