Budget 2025-26: Two new expressways to be developed in Gujarat
Gujarat Finance Minister, Kanu Desai, presented the ₹3.70 lakh crore budget for 2025-26 on Thursday, focusing on Gujarat’s development and reducing the fiscal deficit. Among the major provisions for the different sectors,construction of two new express highways were announced.
Namoshakti Expressway
Connecting Banaskantha with the coastal region of Saurashtra, the road from Deesa to Pipavav will be developed as an expressway.
Somnath-Dwarka Expressway
This highway will connect Ahmedabad to Rajkot, extending further to Dwarka, Somnath, and Porbandar, linking religious, tourist, and port locations.
Additionally, a new Greenfield Airport will be developed in Dahod, and ₹45 crore has been allocated to improve air connectivity for small cities.
High-speed corridors and Expressways
To improve traffic flow, ₹1,020 crore has been allocated for developing high-speed corridors and expressways in the state.
Under the “Garvi Gujarat High-Speed Corridor” project, 12 new high-speed corridors spanning 1,367 km will be developed.
Expansion and improvement of Surat, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, and Porbandar airports in collaboration with the central government.
