Broken manhole leads to two-wheeler rider’s death in Ahmedabad’s Kubernagar

Ahmedabad’s Kubernagar area has once again exposed the gap between Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC)’s development claims and ground reality. CCTV footage reveals an Activa rider crashed into an open, broken manhole cover on November 26.

The locals claim that despite repeated complaints it had remained unrepaired for six months.

Locals had allegedly submitted at least three formal applications demanding action. Instead, they were met with the same dismissive reply, “Not under our jurisdiction.”

The victim, grievously injured in the fall, succumbed to severe head trauma during treatment. Shockingly, the corporation reacted only after the fatality — by merely placing a barrier around the spot. Residents allege that had this been done months ago, a life would have been saved.
