Bootlegger’s son stabs 21-year-old to death in Surat, 10 arrested
An incident in Surat has sent shockwaves across the state, where 10 individuals killed a 21-year-old and injured others following a dispute between a society resident and the son of a bootlegger.
According to the information obtained by the police on Sunday night, a violent incident occurred in Velanja, Surat.
Near the Dhara Residency gate in Velanja, the son of a bootlegger was seen sitting with a young girl on a Bullet motorcycle. When nearby residents asked him to leave, he refused, leading to an altercation. A resident named Nikunj, also known as Bhudev, slapped him, after which the youth left the area.
Sometime later, around midnight, 21-year-old Paras, a resident of Nandini Society, was sitting near the Dhara Residency gate with his friend when a group of 10 people including the bootlegger’s son arrived and attacked them.
While those sitting there fled the scene, Paras was caught by one of the attackers and stabbed in the chest and left thigh. The injuries were so severe that collapsed on the spot.
The attackers also injured one of the society members named Niru on the knees, another member named Gopal on the head, and Vipul, Paras’ brother, on the thighs.
After the incident, a large crowd gathered, and shifted the injured to the hospital. Upon arrival, doctors declared Paras dead.
Upon learning of the incident, Utran police arrived and filed a complaint based on information provided by Paras’ brother.
The police swung into action and arrested all 10 accused within a few hours.
The police investigation revealed that the young man sitting outside the society at night with the girl was identified as Alpesh, aka Lalo, the son of a female bootlegger from Varachha named Shela.
After he was slapped at the gate of Dhara Residency, the bootlegger’s son informed his friend Ramu Godhra, an associate of the criminal Dilip Vaghri. Ramu, who is also involved in the illegal liquor trade, gathered Lalo and other accomplices and launched the deadly attack, which resulted in the death of Paras.
