The main office of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) received a bomb threat on Wednesday. The threat prompted an immediate response from the civic administration and law enforcement agencies, leading to heightened security measures at the premises.

According to reports, a message threatening to blow up the SMC headquarters was received. Acting swiftly, senior police officials, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and dog squad teams rushed to the site.

Security personnel carried out extensive checks and search operations across all departments of the municipal office, including parking areas and surrounding premises, to ensure safety and rule out any threat.

The incident briefly created panic among municipal employees and citizens visiting the office. However, police quickly brought the situation under control and appealed to the public not to pay attention to rumours.
