Bomb threat sent to Gujarat High Court and Ahmedabad Airport from same email ID, security agencies on alert

Security was tightened at both the Gujarat High Court and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Wednesday after authorities at the two institutions received bomb threat emails from the same sender.

According to officials, the High Court Registrar first received the threat mail on the court’s official email ID. Sola police were immediately alerted, and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) teams conducted an extensive check of the premises. Around the same time, a similar threat mail was also received by the Ahmedabad airport authorities, prompting a coordinated security sweep at the terminal.

Senior officers confirmed that both threats originated from the same email ID, raising concerns of a coordinated attempt to disrupt key public institutions. While operations at the airport remained unaffected, security protocols were intensified and entry points brought under strict watch.

This is the third time the Gujarat High Court has received such a bomb threat. Although earlier threats were declared hoaxes, investigators are treating the latest incident with greater seriousness given the simultaneous targeting of the High Court and the city airport. Cybercrime experts have been tasked with tracing the sender and establishing whether the threats are linked to previous cases.

Officials said that routine court proceedings continued under tight security, while additional deployment was made to ensure the safety of judges, lawyers, staff, and visitors. Airport security agencies have also stepped up vigil, with enhanced passenger and baggage screening in place.
