Heightened security checks and a cyber crime investigation was conducted after several schools across Ahmedabad received a series of bomb threat emails on Friday. The mails sent to official school email IDs were laced with extremist slogans and references to Khalistan.

Police Sub-Inspector J D Rathod of the Cyber Crime Police Station, Ahmedabad, in his complaint stated that the threats were received on the morning of January 23 by multiple schools, including prominent institutions in Navrangpura, Satellite, Bodakdev, Vasna, Vastrapur, Shahibaug and other parts of the city.

The emails, sent from a suspected fake email ID deloarhossen.vkn91@gmail were signed in the name of “Deloar Deloar” and carried subject lines such as “BOMB Blast @11 PM” and “BOMB Blast @ 2 11 PM”. The contents threatened bomb explosions in “three to four schools” around 11 pm, and included provocative messages such as “Gujarat is the enemy of Khalistan”, “Modi-Shah are enemies of Khalistan Referendum activists”, and calls urging schools not to hoist the national flag on January 26. The mails also contained slogans like “Khalistan–Bangladesh Zindabad” and threats targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Republic Day.

Police said the threatening emails were sent in quick succession between 7 am and 9.40 am to several schools, including Sant Kabir School (Navrangpura and its other branches), DPS Bopal, Geneva Liberal School (Sarkhej), Redbricks School (Satellite), Mahatma Gandhi International School (Navrangpura), Kendriya Vidyalaya (SAC, Vastrapur), Army Public School (Shahibaug), Sheth C.N. Vidyalaya (Ambawadi), Diwan Ballubhai Higher Secondary School (Paldi), Bodakdev School for Children, Ahmedabad Kerala Samajam English Medium High School (Ghodasar), Divine Life English School (Vasna), GD High School (Saijpur Bogha), Terf English Medium School (Naranpura), Shree Vidyanagar School (Usmanpura) and Vijayanagar Secondary School (Sarangpur).

Following the alerts received in the police control room, senior officers immediately informed local police stations and security teams were dispatched to the concerned schools. Bomb disposal squads and dog squads carried out checks, though no suspicious object was found at any of the locations, police said.

In his complaint, PSI Rathod stated that the emails appeared to be part of a “pre-planned criminal conspiracy” aimed at creating fear, panic and disturbance among the public, particularly students, parents and school authorities. The sender, he noted, had deliberately created a false identity using an unknown email ID to circulate the threats.

Based on the complaint, the Cyber Crime Police Station has registered an FIR against an unknown person under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections of the Information Technology Act, 2000, for identity theft and misuse of electronic communication.

Senior Cyber cell offical said a detailed investigation has been initiated, including tracing the origin of the emails, analysing technical data and coordinating with central agencies, if required. “The intent was clearly to spread panic and disrupt public order. We are examining all digital trails and will take strict action against those responsible,” further said official.

Police have urged citizens not to panic and to rely only on official information, while schools have been advised to follow standard safety protocols.
