The series of bomb threats in Gujarat has continued, with schools and courts receiving emails threatening to blow them up. After Ahmedabad, the Surat District Court has now received a bomb threat email, triggering panic and swift action across the administrative machinery.

As soon as the threatening email was received, Surat Police and other security agencies went into action mode. The following measures were immediately implemented: security arrangements at the court premises were tightened and surveillance was increased. Entry of lawyers, litigants and the general public into the court complex has been temporarily restricted.

Teams from the Crime Branch, Dog Squad and Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad (BDDS) rushed to the spot and began an investigation. A thorough search operation is being carried out across all blocks of the court complex, judges’ chambers, parking areas and other public spaces.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first such incident in the state. On January 5 (Monday), the Ahmedabad Rural Court received a bomb threat. Earlier, several prominent schools in Ahmedabad had also received similar threat emails.

At present, security agencies are investigating the source of the email and the entire area has been cordoned off. It will be clear only after the investigation is completed whether the threat is fake or real.
