A bomb threat email sent to the official account of a Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Limited (GUJSAIL) triggered a security alert on Wednesday, prompting a multi-agency response and a detailed investigation before authorities declared it a hoax, police said.

According to a First Information Report (FIR) lodged with the Cyber Crime police station, the threatening email was received at around 8 am on March 25 on the official email ID of the director of Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Ltd. (GUJSAIL).

The complaint was filed by Nishthaben, a typist working with the organisation for the past nine years, who stated that she came across the email upon reporting for duty at around 9.30 am.

The email, sent from an ID identified as “bhavesh4518@gmail.com”, carried the subject “blast” and contained threats of bomb explosions at multiple locations, including schools. It also contained references to prominent political leaders and demanded the release of an individual, while warning of imminent attacks intended to create panic.

Treating the message as a serious security threat, officials immediately escalated the matter in accordance with standard operating procedures. The email was forwarded to senior officials, including the Deputy Collector and the organisation’s Chief Security Officer, following which multiple agencies were alerted.

Police said that the Ahmedabad city control room was informed, and a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee meeting was convened at Terminal-1 later in the afternoon. Senior officials, including representatives from airport security, aviation authorities and other agencies, attended the meeting.

Subsequently, specialised teams, including bomb detection and disposal squads, conducted a thorough search of the premises. No explosives or suspicious material were found during the checks.

After a detailed assessment, the threat was declared non-specific and no credible danger was detected, officials said.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against an unknown person for issuing criminal threats and spreading panic through electronic communication. Investigators are analysing technical evidence, including email headers and digital footprints, to trace the origin of the message.

A screenshot of the threatening email has been submitted as evidence, and further investigation is underway.
