Bogus doctor without medical degree arrested from Changodar by SOG

In a major crackdown on quack practitioners, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Ahmedabad Rural Police arrested a man posing as an allopathic doctor without any valid medical degree from the Dholeshwarnagar area near Changodar Post Office.

The accused, identified as Biswajit Ghosh, son of Gopalchandra Dhora and a native of Mandalhar village in Nadia district of West Bengal, had been operating from Shakti Avenue, Moraiya village, near Changodar-Tajpur Road. He was found practising modern medicine without holding any recognised qualification registered with the Gujarat Medical Council, and has now been booked under the Gujarat Medical Practitioners Act, 1963.

Acting on a tip-off, a SOG team conducted an operation and recovered allopathic medicines, syringes, injections, and other medical paraphernalia worth ₹27,403 from the suspect’s premises. A case has been registered at Changodar police station, and the accused has been taken into custody.

Notably, Ghosh has a prior criminal history. He was earlier booked under the same Act in 2023 for similar offences. Authorities suspect that he may have been running the illegal practice for an extended period, endangering public health.
