Bogus doctor arrested in Panchmahal

A man accused of practicing medicine without a valid degree was arrested in Wankadiya village of Halol taluka in Panchmahal. As per reports, the accused was giving allopathic medicine and injection to villagers without any licence or recognised medical qualification. 

The accused has been identified as 58-year-old Pradeep Mandal, originally from West Bengal. According to police, he was running a clinic from a house located on a roadside in the village. 

The action was reportedly taken after the SOG Godhra team received specific information. A joint team including Dr Jignesh Pargi, Medical Officer of Kathola PHC Centre, and pharmacist Drashtiben Rathwa conducted a investigation at the clinic.

During the investigation, officials found that Mandal did not have any degree or licence to practice medicine. Police also recovered several medicines and medical items from the clinic, including antibiotic tablets, creams, injections, vaccines, syringes, a BP checking instrument and a glucometer. The total value of the seized items was said to be ₹9,665. 

As per reports, Pavagadh police have registered a case against the accused under different sections of the Gujarat Medical Practitioners Act and further investigation is underway.
