In a complaint filed at the Savli Police station, 16 people, including the deputy mamlatdar and a Talati, were alleged of a scam that involved procuring bogus death certificates and subsequently succession certificates, to convert non-farmers into farmers for acquiring farmlands illegally.

Ranjan Solanki, a resident of Samantpura village, lodged a complaint at Savli Police Station stating that her ancestral land in Gothda (Samantpura village boundary) has been encroached upon.

“Earlier when other people including my father-in-law and husband died, the pedhi namu — inheritance (succession/legal heir certificate) was not issued. However, recently, when proceeding with inheritance, it was discovered through a document dated May 9, 2019, that inheritance has been finalised,” said Ranjan.

“Even Though my husband died in May 2003, a fake succession certificate was made for the year 2008. According to that, the heirs of the land were Manjula Solanki, Muskan (her daughter) and Rekha. However, my husband only had a son,” she added.

Moreover, in Samantpur, fake death certificates were used to convert non-farmers into farmers and get their lands illegally.

Another landholder Ramesh Parmar’s land was falsely claimed by entering names of Mela Parmar, Mamta, and Manjula in the inheritance document.

Moreover, Gothda’s Sharda Solanki’s father-in-law created a bogus inheritance in the name of Beena Solanki’s daughter to get the agricultural land. Similarly, in the inherited land of Soma Parmar, an entry was made based on a bogus death certificate, showing Vidhya Parmar’s daughter-in-law Khemchand’s name in the revenue records, according to the complaint.

The complaint further mentioned the land acquired by Arvind Solanki from Charanpur village, where revenue records were falsely transferred in the name of Bakula Solanki based on a bogus death certificate, which was verified by Deputy Mamlatdar Rajendrasinh Umangsinh Vasandiya.
