Boeing team joins AI 171 crash probe in Ahmedabad

A team from Boeing has arrived to assist in the investigation of the tragic Air India flight AI 171 crash that occurred on June 12 in Ahmedabad's Meghaninagar.

Foreign agencies including the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will join the investigation into this accident. In addition, a team from Boeing—the manufacturer of the crashed aircraft—also arrived in Ahmedabad on Sunday afternoon.

The Boeing 787-8 airplane was en route to London from Ahmedabad on June 12 at 1.38 pm. However, soon after take-off, the plane crashed on B J Medical boys' hostel. A total of 241 people onboard were declared dead with  only one survivor. The crash remains under investigation as authorities continue to search for evidence.

Notably, The Flight Data Recorder (Black Box) was recovered within 28 hours from the accident site in Ahmedabad by AAIB on June 13. Further investigation is underway.

So far, the accident has claimed lives of 270 individuals including passengers and resident doctors of B J Medical College.
