BMW crash in Nikol: Driver arrested after autorickshaw overturns, bus stand damaged

A speeding car rammed into an autorickshaw and crashed into an AMTS bus stand in the Nikol area of Ahmedabad on Monday afternoon, leaving the rickshaw driver injured and causing significant damage to public property, police said.
According to officials from the Ahmedabad City Traffic Police, the incident took place around 1 pm on the public road near Saurashtra Patel Samajwadi, close to Bhakti Circle.
The accused, identified as Kevin Kanani (25), a resident of Nikol, was allegedly driving a four-wheeler at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, endangering both his own life and that of others on the road.
During the incident, an autorickshaw driver, Munaf Sheikh, was proceeding in his vehicle, when the car hit the rickshaw from behind. The impact caused the autorickshaw to overturn. The car then veered off the road and crashed into an AMTS bus stand, damaging both vehicles and the structure.
Sheikh sustained injuries in the collision and was provided medical assistance.
Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The accused driver has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway, officials added.
