Blast at Amul dairy biogas plant injures workers

An accident at the biogas plant of Amul Dairy triggered panic on Thursday after a sudden blast in the balloon of a biogas line left workers and officials injured. The injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment.

According to information received, the mishap occurred near the ETP plant during welding work. The sound of the explosion was heard across the premises.

Initial reports suggest that more than five people sustained injuries, though no official confirmation has yet been issued by Amul Dairy regarding the incident.

The accident coincided with the counting of votes for the Dairy’s board of directors’ election, scheduled for September 12. Several political leaders were present at the premises for the declaration of results when the blast took place.
