BJP names Hitesh Barot as new Ahmedabad Mayor

The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday announced its new leadership, with Hitesh Barot elected as the Mayor of Ahmedabad.

Anju Shah was chosen as the Deputy Mayor, while Kamlesh Patel was appointed Chairman of the Standing Committee.

The appointments come following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) sweeping victory in the AMC local body elections, in which the party secured 160 seats in the civic body.

Party sources said the names of Dharmashi Desai, Jashubhai Thakor and Raju Thakor were also under consideration for the post of Mayor before the final decision was announced.
