Amreli Jafrabad brawl |
A minor scuffle among fishers in Amreli’s Jafrabad took a violent shape, in which the son-in-law of a BJP MLA sustained grave injuries and was hospitalised.
According to the complaint, the brawl broke out over a parking issue after Chandrakant Shiyal, accompanied by two others, was returning from a fishing expedition.
Shiyal confronted a fisherman, Yashvant Baraiya, whose ice tractor obstructed his way. A quarrel ensued, which escalated further.
Chandrakant’s son Chandu Shiyal, who is the son-in-law of Rajula MLA Hira Solanki and is the chief of Amreli Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), also showed up at the scene.
In the violent exchange, the perpetrators are accused of assaulting Chandu with an axe, as well as snatching his chain. Chandu was admitted to a hospital in Bhavnagar after this incident.
Several local leaders of the Amreli BJP faction also showed up at the hospital.
Notably, a video has been doing rounds on social media of this ordeal. It shows Chandu whipping out his revolver and pointing it at the accused. Police are yet to confirm this video.
More than six were booked in this case, who were nabbed by Amreli police following a complaint by Chandrakant.
