BJP leader’s nephew assaults employee, staff locks Panchayat office in protest in Gujarat

In Chhotaudepur, the nephew of former BJP MP Ramsinh Rathwa assaulted an employee of the Kawant Taluka Panchayat office, threatening the staff to lock the office and approach the District Development Officer (DDO) with a complaint.
The incident took place on Thursday evening at the Kawant Taluka Panchayat office when the BJP leader’s nephew attacked an employee in front of the Taluka Development Officer over a dispute related to data entry for a housing scheme. Witnessing this, the entire office staff gathered in protest.
The incident sparked widespread outrage. The next day, angered employees locked the Taluka Panchayat office and marched to the District Development Officer’s office to file a complaint against him. The DDO informed the police and urged them to register a complaint, but the police station did not take any action.
Following the assault, the Taluka Panchayat office remained locked the entire day, and employees refused to work, causing inconvenience to the public. As the police allegedly failed to take action, the DDO ultimately escalated the complaint to the DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police).
Employees, fearing for their safety, voiced their concerns, stating that they work late hours to conduct housing scheme surveys and issue job cards to beneficiaries. However, if politicians continue to assault them like this, their lives could be at risk.
