Tensions ran high in Surat after local people protested against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders during a campaign visit in the Gorat area of Rander zone, which is usually known as a strong area for the party.

As per reports, BJP leaders and candidates had come to visit a temple, but the situation quickly became tense. Many local residents, including women, gathered and started shouting slogans like “Jai Shri Ram” and “Go Back.” Some women also wore black clothes to show their protest. Leaders were told not to do campaign in their locality.

The situation got worse when some supporters of the candidate were accused of misbehaving with the locals. This led to a fight between the two sides. Angry residents pushed the leaders and made them leave the area.

Senior leaders like MLA Purnesh Modi and former mayor Hemali Boghawala were also present, and they also faced the strong opposition. Locals said that leaders do not come when there are problems and only come during elections to ask for votes.

As things went out of control, police were called to the spot.

Due to strong protest from the public, BJP leaders had to stop their campaign and leave. Videos of the incident are now going viral on social media, showing the anger of people in an area that was earlier considered safe for the party.
