BJP leader, associate of Kheda MLA, accused of embezzling ₹1.20 crore, victim demands police action
Chandresh alias Popat Patel, a BJP leader associated with BJP MLA Kalpesh Parmar from Matar, allegedly borrowed ₹1.20 crore from a friend in Limbasi to save his rice mill, but failed to return the money. Despite repeated complaints, the police allegedly refused to register a case.
Jigar Thakkar, a resident of Malawada Crossroad, Limbasi in Kheda, and his family submitted a complaint to the Kheda district police chief. They stated that Patel’s rice mill was set to be auctioned by the bank. At that time, Patel, being a friend, sought financial help from Thakkar. In June 2023, Thakkar lent ₹1.20 crore to Chandresh Patel to save the rice mill.
As a guarantee, Patel agreed to transfer ownership of 8 gunthas of land to Thakkar. This land was registered under the name of Inayat Miya, an employee at the rice mill whom Thakkar trusted.
According to their agreement, once the ₹1.20 crore was repaid, Thakkar would return the land to Patel. However, police allegedly refused to register his complaints regarding non-repayment of the money.
Allegations of police inaction
Thakkar filed two complaints, but due to alleged pressure from the deputy superintendent of police, the police did not conduct a proper investigation. He also accused the police of not adding the necessary charges against the accused and failing to arrest them. The family is now demanding immediate justice.
Miya, Thakkar’s trusted employee at the rice mill, allegedly embezzled ₹91.54 lakh along with other individuals. When documents were examined, the total fraud amount reportedly reached several crores. Thakkar initially filed a complaint against Miya, but later, Patel allegedly sided with him. As a result, Miya falsely claimed that Thakkar had no ownership over the 8-guntha land. When Thakkar’s people attempted to visit the land, they were threatened.
Following the victim'’ complaint, the director general of police has ordered a judicial inquiry.
However, Kheda district police allegedly ignored these directives. Instead of acting against Patel and his associates, Thakkar claimed that police assaulted him and forcefully took possession of the land.
