Bioluminescent spotted for the first time in Gujarat, found in the forests of Dang

Gujarat’s forests often reveal new wonders, and now, for the first time, a rare bioluminescent fungus has been spotted in the Dang district. This type of fungus is usually found in the southern states of India. While during the daytime it looks like ordinary roots, at night it glows like radium.
Such fungi are mostly spotted in states like Goa, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, where tourists flock to witness its glow. Although there are many varieties of fungi, bioluminescent fungi are extremely rare, and this is believed to be the first sighting in Gujarat.
The discovery was made when Saurabh, a government employee from Songadh in Tapi district, was photographing plants in the Dang forest. He captured an image of a small plant that looked different by day and night. After consulting a botany professor and conducting research, it was confirmed that the plant was in fact a bioluminescent fungus.
During the day, it appears like ordinary roots, but at night it emits a glow like radium. With this rare fungus now found in the forests of Dang, it is expected that nature lovers and tourists may soon be drawn to the region, much like in South India where such glowing fungi are already a tourist attraction.
