Two men allegedly fled with a laptop bag containing ₹9.2 lakh in cash after staging a fake road-rage incident on SP Ring Road near Khetlapa tea stall on Wednesday evening. The Sarkhej police have registered an FIR and launched a search for the unidentified motorcycle-borne suspects.

As per the complaint filed by 22-year-old Dhruv Dilipbhai Chauhan, a resident of Shela-Bopal, he and his cousin Jay were returning home from an angadia office after collecting cash when the robbery took place around 5.30 pm on December 10.

Chauhan told the police that he had gone to collect ₹9.20 lakh, mostly in ₹500 notes, from an angadia firm on instructions from his father, who was in their native village in Surendranagar district. The cash was stored in a laptop bag and placed inside their Baleno car.

As the duo reached the stretch near the Khetlapa tea stall on SP Ring Road, a man aged around 30–35, riding a black Pulsar motorcycle, approached their vehicle. Wearing a helmet and a blue shirt, he allegedly drove close to their car and began shouting that they had hit him.

When the complainants did not stop due to the large amount of cash in the vehicle, the motorcyclist allegedly sped ahead, blocked their way on the VIP Road service lane, removed his helmet and confronted them aggressively. While Chauhan and Jay were distracted, another man arrived on a motorcycle, opened the passenger door, grabbed the laptop bag and fled with his accomplice.

The stolen bag, Chauhan said, contained an HP laptop worth ₹10,000 along with the ₹9.2 lakh in cash. Chauhan immediately alerted the police, after which a team reached the spot and escorted them to Sarkhej Police Station to file a formal complaint. He told officers he could identify the primary motorcycle rider by face.

A case has been registered against the unidentified accused under relevant sections of the BNS related to theft and robbery. Further investigation is on.
