A shocking incident took place early this morning at 6 am on Monday in Khandherai village near Bhuj, Gujarat, where a 22-year-old woman allegedly jumped into a 500-foot deep borewell.

BSF (Border Security Force), fire brigade, and other teams are on the site and rescue operation is underway. The woman is currently believed to be stuck at a depth of 460 feet.

The circumstances of the incident have raised suspicions of a suicide attempt. As the borewell was securely sealed with a heavy lid and stones, the woman managed to enter it. Reportedly, the woman had a recent argument with her fiancé, which may have led to her taking this extreme step.

The victim, identified as 21-year-old Indra Meena, originally hails from Pratapgarh in Rajasthan. She had been living with her cousin, who works for Ramesh Thakkar, the owner of the farm where the incident occurred.

Early in the morning, she and her sister were out to relieve themselves, but Meena did not return to home. After a while, the family heard her cries for help, and the locals gathered to help at the scene, contacting the authorities.

The rescue operations are being carried out by a joint team of Indian Army, BSF, Kutch Collector Amit Arora, SP Vikas Sunda, health department, and Padhar police station. The NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) team is also on its way.

Oxygen supply has been implemented inside the borewell, and a camera has been lowered to monitor the situation. Efforts are also being made to pull her out using an iron hook.

The Bhuj fire brigade, an ambulance, and teams from the Kutch district police, Bhuj administration, and 108 ambulance service are all present at the location.
