Bhavnagar declare 26 sensitive zones as ‘no drone fly’ areas

Actions will be taken against those who fly drones without permission

Drone shoots, what has today become a norm at weddings or movies, will not be allowed at certain places in Bhavnagar.

A proposal to declare 26 sensitive zones in Bhavnagar to be declared as a ‘no-fly zone’ for drones was submitted by the superintendent of police (SP), to issue a notification regarding the ban.

The selected 26 places are dubbed sensitive or vital installation zones and classified into red and yellow zones as per the guidelines  of the union ministry of home affairs. 

Which are the sensitive zones?

Bhavnagar’s sensitive and vital installation zones include:

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) LPG bottling plant, Tagadi

New and old filter house

Mobile telephone exchange

Railway station workshop

Telephone exchange, Panwadi

Getco (Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited) Substation 

Bhavnagar airport

TV relay centre

Steel jetty, Nava bandar

Food godown, Juna bandar

IOC depot, Juna bandar

Head post office of Bhavnagar

Transmission centre, Chavdigate

Getco substation, Vartej

Ghogha port

Ship-breaking yard, Alang

Telephone exchange, Talaja

Getco substation, Talaja

Getco substation, Nesvad

Mahuva port

Telephone exchange and Getco substation, Palitana

District magistrate’s order

To ensure law and order in Bhavnagar, the additional district magistrate has prohibited the use of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) without permission under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Act, 1973.

It restricts the use of drones by anti-national organisations, separatists, and terrorist organisations and avoids subversive elements that harm security.
