Bharuch police’s ‘Silky’ sniffs burglar, cracks ₹3.58L theft case from highway rest house

Man’s best friend has helped the authorities in Bharuch to crack a burglary involving ₹3,58,000, from the express highway rest house.
The Amod police of Bharuch district nabbed 24-year-old Chirag Vanand who stole a locker containing the cash along with a bag on Wednesday.
“The day after the robbery, Amod Police Inspector R B Karmatiya and his team promptly detained suspicious individuals from nearby villages. Assistance was sought from Bharuch district’s dog squad, FSL team, and fingerprint experts for investigation,” said Police Constable Digvijaysinh Narendrasinh in a telephonic interview with Gujarat Samachar Digital.
At the crime scene, the detained suspects were lined up, and Bharuch district’s ‘Silky’, the dog, identified the accused based on the scent from the crime scene.
“Silky started barking in front of the accused and we got our criminal,” said Digvijaysinh.
Following a thorough interrogation of the accused, the police recovered all the original stolen money near a canal on the outskirts of Telod village on Wednesday.
