Dr Prashant Vajirani, the alleged mastermind behind the fraudulent scheme of repeatedly implanting stents by  misleading patients, has revealed critical details in a police investigation, shedding light on how he profited from misleading patients.

Vajirani has named other doctors involved in these practices. Meanwhile, the trustees of Bhagyoday Hospital have gone into hiding, even before the authorities could complete their investigation.

One of the key aspects raising suspicion is the number of procedures conducted at Bhagyoday Hospital. In just six to eight months, the hospital performed 2,700 angiographies and 1,100 angioplasties — a remarkably high figure that has drawn attention. Such a volume of surgeries, especially within a short period, has sparked concerns about possible malpractice.

At present, the phones of the trustees and doctors associated with Bhagyoday Hospital are switched off, and reports indicate that no one is available at their residences.

Bhagyoday Hospital is reported to have earned over ₹6 crore through these heart procedures, with the scandal seemingly linked directly to the hospital’s operations.

Further allegations have emerged, suggesting that the trustees of Bhagyoday Hospital set up a pharmacy company that supplied everything from medicines to stents. It is believed that corporate hospital owners, including those tied to Bhagyoday Hospital, played a significant role in exploiting the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) scheme as a source of income.

The large number of heart surgeries performed at Bhagyoday Hospital compared to other institutions raised further suspicions.

Reports indicate that the trustees may have opened a pharmacy company in Kalol to supply the necessary materials for these procedures, which adds to the growing concerns over potential financial exploitation.
