A petition has been filed in the Gujarat High Court seeking restrictions on a controversial dialogue in the recently released Bollywood film Dhurandhar, alleging it contains hate speech targeting the Baloch community.

The petitioner, Yasin Allarakha Baloch, has urged the court to direct appropriate legal action against film director Aditya Dhar for including the impugned dialogue.

The plea also seeks an order for the chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to conduct a fresh review of the film and ensure strict adherence to constitutional and statutory guidelines.

Additionally, the petition prays for an stay on the exhibition and circulation of the offensive dialogue across all platforms. It argues that failure to remove or modify the dialogue would severely hurt the sentiments of the Baloch community.

The petition contends that the dialogue violates the right to life and dignity under Article 21 of the Constitution, as it brands an entire ethnic group as inherently untrustworthy. Describing it as ‘collective vilification’, the plea states that comparing the community to animals and attributing negative traits dehumanises and humiliates them, rendering it constitutionally impermissible.

It further warns that continued circulation of the dialogue risks normalising prejudice, legitimising hatred, and inciting social hostility, posing a threat to public order and communal harmony.

Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, was released in theatres on December 5, 2025. The petitioner claims that the derogatory remarks against the Baloch community came to light only after the film's release, causing widespread hurt and leading to nationwide condemnations through peaceful protests and representations.
